

A memorial service with reception to follow will be held Saturday June 14th, 2025 at 2 P.M. at Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter in Gadsden AL. Father Carl Saxton will officiate. Stan will be interred in the columbarium of the church garden.
Stan was a graduate of Union Springs High School and later attended the University of Alabama where he earned his Master of Education degree while playing basketball and baseball. After graduating, Stan was employed by the Citadel as Director of Intramural Sports. While living in Charleston SC, he met his wife of 61 years, Miki Anglea Cook. Coach Stan Cook was the men’s basketball coach and taught physical education at Alexander City State Junior College from September 1966 to July 1977. He then was the men’s basketball coach and men’s golf coach for Gadsden State Community College from July 1977 until his retirement in May 2004. Coach Stan Cook is in the Alabama Junior College Sports Hall of Fame for more than 500 wins. Stan stayed in athletics since a young man. He was blessed with great skill as a quarterback while being coach by his Dad, R.G Cook. Stan loved playing football and basketball, baseball, tennis, and his greatest passion in sports, playing golf and winning many tournaments with awards. Stan and Miki Cook were also great together dancing. Coach Stan Cook touched the lives of many players on his numerous teams and enjoyed helping them excel in life.
Stan was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Green Cook, father Reynolds Gwaltney (R.G.) Cook, several close and lifelong friends.
Stan is survived by his wife, Miki Anglea Cook, his children, Richard (Richie) Stanley Cook, Margaret Angela (Angie) Cook, Sherri Michelle Cook, his brother Dr. Randell G. Cook (Jennifer), and beloved German Shepard Saban. Also many loved cousins and in-laws.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter, 156 South 9th Street South, Gadsden, AL 35901.
