Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Collier-Butler Funeral Home for Barbara Jean Hand Gantt, age 72, of Gadsden, who passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018. Rev. Larry Fuhrman will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.
Mrs. Gantt was born in Birmingham, AL April 26, 1946. She was a devoted mother, wife, and daughter who spent her life taking care of others. She loved children and her home was always filled with them. Mrs. Gantt was always willing to help those in need through her many acts of kindness. Her most treasured moments were spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Mrs. Gantt was preceded in death by her loving husband, Everett Earl Gantt; parents, Leonard and Audrey Hand; and sister, Carolyn Oehlschlaeger.
She is survived by her daughter, Candace Gantt Bennett (Trey); grandchildren, Frank, Gantt and Ellis; and nephews, Johnny (Libby), Michael, and Hans Oehlschlaeger.
