

On March 1, 2024, just two days shy of her 99th birthday, our precious Mama and Grandmama went to be with Jesus. She passed in the comfort of her home and surrounded by her loving family. Sue was a graduate of Gadsden High School and a proud, lifelong charter member of Edgewood Baptist Church. Her cherished pastimes were sewing, baking, drinking coffee on her front porch, and caring for her 3 generations of grandkids. She was the most creative, loving, & humble woman whose greatest joy was her family and greatest love was her Lord and Savior!
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Thomas and Robena Hatfield; husband, William Fredrick “Fred” Dial, Sr.; son, William Fredrick “Big Rick” Dial, Jr.; and 13 siblings.
She is survived by her daughters, Darlene (Travis) Watkins and Lisa (Dale) Price; daughter-in-law, Beth Pinson Dial; grandchildren, Jim (Sheri) Watkins, Michelle (Kenneth) Gewalt, Susanne (Phil) Winningham, Heath (Tammy) Watkins, Ricky (Giny) Dial, Kristi (Johnny) Barnett, Tony (Christina) Lancaster, Tommy (Launa) Lancaster, Tiffany Price, and Jason (Stephanie) Price; great granddaughters, Becca, Molly, Chelsea, Chloie, Brianna, Jasmine, Sierrah, Lynze, Alley, Caitie Sue, Hannah, Ruthie, Little Hannah, and Brees; great grandsons (9); great-great grandchildren, Jaylee, Eli, Karen, Tucker, Levi, Greysun, Lydia, Roman, Rhett, Genevieve, Ivy, Beau, Ava, Millie Kate, and Ella; and a host of nieces/nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jim, Heath, Ricky, Tony, Tommy, Kenneth, and Johnny.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle, Anders, Clay, Will, Hudson, William, Tank, Hunter (Great Grandsons); John Downey; and Jason Price.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Edgewood Baptist Church in her honor.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Brother Bart Watts and Edgewood Baptist Church; and Southern Care New Beacon Hospice.
A visitation for Sue will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Edgewood Baptist Church, 1727 Mt Zion Avenue, Gadsden, AL 35904. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Edgewood Baptist Church. Mrs. Dial will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 1:00PM until the hour of the service. Brother Bart Watts, brother Phil Winningham, and brother Caleb Winningham will officiate. Burial will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Collier-Butler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
