

Catherine Williamson Turner, age 82, passed away Friday, Jan. 14, 2011. Mrs. Turner, a native of Tallapoosa, Georgia, was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. H.M. Williamson. She graduated from Woodlawn High School in Birmingham, Alabama in 1946. Gadsden was her home for the last fifty-five years. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Bill and her son, Jimmy.
Mrs. Turner was a devoted wife and mother and her grandchildren were her greatest joy. She cherished her family and devoted herself to the care of her mother, Malbert, and her brother, Sonny. She was a longtime member of James memorial Baptist Church where she enjoyed teaching bible school and serving in the nursery. Her enduring faith brought comfort to her family in her final days.
Mrs. Turner is survived by her children, Gene (Lana) Turner, Byron (Amyotha) Turner, Marilyn (Teddy Ray) Thompson, and chosen daughter, Gail (Ray) Roden; grandchildren, Chris (Elaine) Turner, Jennifer Moore, Chadd (Sonya) Copeland, Abby (Bart) Tucker, Amy Mills, Matthew Turner, Ashlei (Garry) Goodwin, Hannah Turner, and eleven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors this evening from 5-7 p.m. at Collier-Butler Funeral Home. Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Bill Abbott, Kenneth Clement, and Vince Whittington officiating. Pallbearers are Christ Turner, Matthew Turner, Alex Turner, Bart Tucker, Mike Morgan, and Gayle Allsup. Honorary pallbearers are Clark Boler, Tim Hudak, Mike Lasseter, and Billy Palmer.
The Turner family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to all who said a prayer or gave comfort during this difficult time.
