

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mr. Charles Edward “Ed” Partain, 87, Gadsden who passed away Friday, June 28, 2013. Rev. Philip Elliott will officiate with entombment at Crestwood Cemetery Mausoleum. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services Directing.
Mr. Partain was a longtime resident of Gadsden. He was a veteran of the U S Navy serving in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Partain was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and retired from Republic Steel with 39 years and 3 months of service. In his early years he was an avid hunter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elizabeth Partain, daughter, Sandra Partain Pierce, grandson, Dr. David Pierce, sister, Joan Jordan and Brothers, Ralph and George Partain.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mrs. Ila Partain, son, Roger Partain and wife Cindy, son-in-law, Judson Pierce, grandchildren, Leigh Partain Buchanan and husband Matt, Jamie Pierce and wife Leslie, great grandchildren, Samantha, Caitlyn, Hannah, Hayden and Colton Pierce, Carter and Olivia Buchanan, sister, Bobbie Presley, brother, Bill Partain, several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Roger Davenport, Greg Oliver, Carter Buchanan, Judson and Jamie Pierce and Roger Partain.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Bellevue Baptist Church.
The family extends specials thanks to Scott Simpson and the staff of Coosa Valley Health Care Center especially Stephanie and Janice.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home
