Dixie Jones Owens

Mrs. Owens was born and raised in Cherokee County and graduated from Cherokee County High School. She attended Letcher’s Business School in Gadsden. She worked at Camp Sibert during World War II where she met her future husband, Thomas “Mack” Owens and later was his Office Manager for many years. They were married for over 72 years.

Mrs. Owens involved in many civic endeavors including being past President of Etowah Medical Auxiliary; past President of Attalla Federation of Garden Clubs; member of The Antiquarian Society and The Study Club, and Patron of the Cultural Arts Center.

Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. T.M. Owens and parents, James H and Kittie D. Jones.

She is survived by her sons; Thomas (Gayla) Owens Jr. and James (Evelyn) Owens; granddaughters, Kelly (Brian) Wolfe and Natalie (Nick) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Katie Harper, and Mae Wolfe and Kilian Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Attalla.

The family would like to extend special thanks to all of the caregivers at Regency Pointe.

Family will receive friends at Collier-Butler Funeral Home from 10:00 am – 11:00 am prior to the service.
