
Dr. Donald Wayne Stewart, DVM age 75 of Gadsden, passed away Friday, January 16, 2015. The funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Monday, January 19, 2015 at Rainbow City First United Methodist Church. Reverend Lynn Diamond will be officiating. The burial will be at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin an hour prior to the funeral.
Dr. Stewart was born in Birmingham, AL December 7, 1939. He graduated from Hewitt- Trussville High School in 1957. In 1963 Dr. Stewart graduated from Auburn University where he attended Veterinarian School. He was a part of the Army Veterinary Corps from 1963- 1968 and traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, and The Middle East. Dr. Stewart worked for the USDA from 1968- 1972. He practiced his profession in Rainbow City from 1972- 1979 and then practiced in East Gadsden from 1980- 2008 when he retired. Aside from his work, he had a love for ballroom dancing.
Dr. Stewart was preceded in death by his daughter, Lorna Stewart Usrey.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel Stewart; children, Donna Stewart, Brent Stewart; grandchildren, Christopher Stewart, Amber, Crystal, and Lauren Usrey; brother, Kenneth (Kathy) McDaniel; and sister, Susan (Larry) Latta.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Regional Medical Center doctors and nursing staff, and all other employees especially the wonderful smiling and kind housekeeping and food service staff.
