

Doris Ruth Stovall Copeland passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at her home. Pastor Randy Postell will officiate with burial to follow at Lee Family Cemetery. Service will be at East Gadsden Baptist Church at 4:00 PM on Tuesday. Collier-Butler Funeral Services directing.
Mrs. Copeland was a life long resident of Gadsden and a member of East Gadsden Baptist Church for over sixty years. She was involved in many church and community organizations. Doris served as a volunteer for the Ladies Auxiliary at Gadsden Regional Medical Center for over thirty years. She was an active member and Treasurer of the Gleaners Sunday School Class and a member of the Women’s Missionary Union and served as past President. Her servant heart in ministry was a service to her Lord.
Doris was gifted with extraordinary baking skills and loved sharing her baked cakes, cookies and other special treats with her family and friends.
Mrs. Copeland was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman Brewer Stovall and Bama McCullough Stovall and her sister Betty Lou Stovall.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, Buford Copeland; daughters, Recee (Larry) Bledsoe, Anita (Roger) Laney; son, Keith (Susan) Copeland; grandchildren, Kristy (Tony) LaRue, Holly (Merril) Guice, Matthew (Julie) Laney, Megan Laney; and seven beloved great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. Wilburn and his staff and a wonderful caregiver, Barbara Menninger. The family also appreciates the love and care given by Wiregrass Hospice. Her special friends will always be treasured and remembered for all the memories shared over many years.
Pallbearers will be Roger Laney, Matthew Laney, Tony LaRue, Merril Guice, Larry Bledsoe, and Art Middleton.
The family will accept friends on Tuesday at the church from 2:00 – 4:00, until time of service.
The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to East Gadsden Baptist Church.
