

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Southside Baptist Church for Doris Ferguson Kilgo, age 87, of Southside (formerly of Attalla), who passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016. Granddaughter, Hollie Wells, Bro. Bill Drummons, and Bro. Lauil Thompson will officiate. Burial will be at Williams-Southside Memorial Park. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mrs. Kilgo graduated from Walnut Grove High School where she was FHA Sweetheart, Homecoming Queen and Varsity Cheerleader. She worked in her family’s business, Ferguson Florist, as a floral designer until her retirement in December 2006. Mrs. Kilgo was a member of Southside Baptist Church where she was also a member of the Rebekah Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Kilgo was preceded in death by her husband, of 45 years, Guy Kilgo; parents, Thomas and Marguerite Sage Ferguson; sisters, Rose Mary Ferguson Walker, and Marguerite Ferguson Harvey; and brother, Willie Ferguson.
She is survived by her daughters, Jan (Johnny) Gilmer, and Linda (Roger) Cox, all of Southside; grandchildren, Blake Steapleton of Willoughby, OH, Hollie and Chad Wells of Wilmore, KY, Heather and Deric Thomas, Tiffany and Lee Scott, Wendy and Kasey Kidd, Cindy and Michael Rich all of Southside; great-grandchildren, Bradley and Brayden Scott, Maggie, Molly, and Macy Steapleton, Olivia, Abigail and Ruthie Wells, John Deric, Simon, Anna and Grace Thomas, Austin, Addison and Adam Kidd, Jordan, Alex and Michael, Jr. Rich; brother, Noel (Eloise) Ferguson; sister, Betty (Clark) Hutchins; nieces, Dr. Marguerite Walker (Tom) Early, Patti Harvey (Danny) Robinson, Dr. Lisa Ferguson (Dave) Stegall; and nephews, Tommy Walker and Mack Harvey, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Tom Early, Danny Robinson, Lee Scott, Tommy Walker, Chad Wells, and Jerry Gilmer.
Special thanks to Dr. Sunil Jasiwal, Cheryl Davenport, Lauil Thompson, Bill and Sondra Drummons, the owners and staff of Oak Landing Assisted Living, nurses and staff of the 5th floor at Riverview Medical Center, and Amedisys Hospice.
The family will receive friends Friday, January 29, 2016 at Collier-Butler Funeral Home from 6:00-800 p.m. and Mrs. Kilgo will lie in state at Southside Baptist Church on Saturday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
