Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 24, 2014 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mrs. Doris Calhoun Walker, age 73, of Gadsden, who passed away Friday, November 21, 2014. Rev. Thom Harrison will officiate. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery, Ashville, AL. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct.
Mrs. Walker was born on December 3, 1940 in Etowah County. She had worked at Gregerson’s Grocery, where she was fondly known as “Mother Goose” and was a member of North Glencoe Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Wright and father, Arthur Calhoun and brother, Hoyt Calhoun.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Verlin Walker, children, Wayne Walker, Gary Walker and Melody (Eric) Hammonds, grandchildren, Walker and Emily Evans, Stone and Gloria Elizabeth Walker and brother, Horace (Virginia) Calhoun
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all Mrs. Walker’s friends for their love and compassion.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.Sunday evening at the funeral home.
