Dorothy Evelyn Griffin

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mrs. Dorothy Evelyn White Griffin, 78, of Gadsden, who passed away Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015. Minister Randy L. White will officiate. Burial will be at Bethlehem Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct. Mother loved to work in her yard and garden. She could always be found in the kitchen cooking for her family who meant everything to her. Mom loved her family and was a caregiver to others. She was preceded in death by her parents, Augustice and Ollie White; son, Terry Howard Griffin; granddaughter, Stephanie Griffin, brothers, J.B., Raymond, Sherman, Alvin, Hoyt and Oscar White; sisters, Lucille Franklin, Sybil Greer, Jewell Brown, Kathleen Copeland and Jesse Crumpton. Mrs. Griffin is survived by the love of her life and her caregiver for 63 years, Charles Howard Griffin; daughter, Sherry (Mark) Runyan; son, Michael (Angie) Griffin; grandchildren, Chad (Tiffany Mayhall) Griffin, Jennifer Griffin, Brandon Griffin, Amy Griffin and Will Runyan; great-granddaughter, Taylor Renea Griffin; brother, Louis White; and numerous nieces nephews.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Hammonds, Lamar Stanfield, Harold Stanfield, Jack Clay, Harold Bellew and Gene Billingsley.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Janie and Henry Parker, lifelong friends and wonderful caregivers to mother, special friend, Robin Kirby, and a special thanks to her nurse, Kim, with Gentiva Hospice.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
