

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2016 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Ethel Mae “Opal” Walden, 91, of Gadsden, who passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016. Rev. Albert Morgan and Rev. Phillip Elliott will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Lookout Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mrs. Walden graduated from Etowah High School in 1943 and from nursing school in 1963. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Mrs. Walden was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Opal loved her church and traveling with the seniors. She never met a stranger and made everyone around her feel special.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Walden; parents, Clara Kelley and Joseph Kelley; brothers, Clarence, Oscar, and Fred Kelley; and sisters, Gladis McCormac and Hazel Arnold.
Mrs. Walden is survived by her daughter, Sandra Walden-Smith (Troy); son, Cecil Douglas Walden (Patty); grandchildren, Paula Kennon (Tony), Leigh Anne Wann (Gary), and Kyle Walden; and great-grandchildren, Logan Walden Wann, Katelyn Wann, Chloe Wann, Jacob Wann, Bailey Kennon and Zane Kennon.
Pallbearers will be Michael Cushing, Larry Lewis, Gary Kelley, Eddie Walden, Kyle Walden, and Michael McCormac.
Honorary pallbearers are Eugene Kelley and Danny Kelley.
Special thanks to caretaker, Janice Deerman; dear friend, Dell Morris; and Lookout Mt. Community Center Seniors.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
