Mr. Cooper was retired from the United States AIr Force. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his son, James Olen Cooper; daughter-in-law, Kathy Miller; granddaughter, Sasha Bruce Tarvin; and son-in-law, Lee Bruce.
Mr. Cooper is survived by his daughters, Julie (Shane) Gunnels and Judith Cooper; grandchildren, Savannah Cooper of Maryland Caroline Lukie of Arkansas, James Bruce, Matthew Bruce, Jeremy Bruce, and Jeremy Cash; and many great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Gadsden Church of God in his honor.
