Gary Eugene Silvey

Gary Eugene Silvey, age 80, of Gadsden, AL passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Collier-Butler Funeral Home. Rev. Roy Daugherty will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at New Bethel Cemetery in Hokes, Bluff, AL. The family will accept friends from 12:00 pm until the hour of the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Silvey was a graduate of Gadsden High School as well as the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Gary served as a Hospital Corpsman and Surgical Technologist on the USS Coral Sea. He was a man of faith and attended College Heights Baptist Church.

Mr. Silvey as preceded in death by his mother, Doris Willingham; father, Gene Silvey; sister, Linda Nunn; and stepson, Rory Patrick Cothran.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Silvey; sons, Martin Silvey, Charles Silvey, and Michael Silvey; stepsons, Chris (Shelley) Cothran, Todd (Brandi) Cothran; dearly loved grandchildren; sister, Pamela McKee; and chosen daughter, Deanna Jackson.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Chandler Cothran, Capt. USAF, Mason C. Robinson, Jerry Toney, Steven Dial, Rev. Jeff Holderfield, Kaylen Joiner, and Gregg Jackson.

Honorary pallbearers will be David Sullivan and Barbara Mobley.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Angie Pate, CRNP, Dr. Lauren Lowery, M.D., 7TH floor nurses at Gadsden Regional Medical Center, and Amedisys Home Health Hospice.
