George Duane Fuhrman, 56, Southside, AL. Today we lost a dear friend and brother after a long battle with heart failure. Born March 23, 1956, he was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Betty Fuhrman. He is survived by his brother Gehrig (Carmen) Fuhrman, sister, Shasta (Windon) Edge, nieces and nephews Shauna Fuhrman, Morgan and Lee Edge, Wesley (Sarah) Holmes and Mason Holmes.
After living many years in Atlanta working at Layton Graphics, he returned to the Southside area where he was reunited with his classmates and friends from Southside High School Class of 1974. He cared for his mother during his later years. He served as a former officer in the Southside Senior Club. As a member at First Baptist Southside, he grew closer to God and sang with the praise team, as he had a beautiful baritone voice.
Duane had a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with friends telling tales as he recalled details that everyone else had long forgotten. Funny, because he chose to be; mild because it was his nature and always finding the right phrase that could disarm you and break you up. He was one of a kind.
Services will be at Collier-Butler Funeral Home on Friday, July 20, 2012. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. and the service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Larry Fuhrman will officiate and burial will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lee Edge, Tim Fuhrman, Shea Stowers, Saige Dale, Brent Fuhrman and Doug Fuhrman.
