

Visitation for Larry Battles will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Collier-Butler Funeral Home from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Fairview Baptist Cemetery.
Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was a 1960 graduate of Etowah High School. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Larry served in the 101st Airborne Division in the U.S. Army. He worked at the Republic Steel Plant for 35 years then went to work as a correctional officer at St. Clair Correctional Facility where he retired He was a member at Fairview Road Church of Christ.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Bedford and Margaret Battles; parents in-law, Reuben Sr. and Fannie Mae Waddell; great grandson, Parker Knight; brothers, Doug (Janet) Smith, Don Smith; brother in-laws, Max Sterling, Reuben (Sherry) Waddell; and sister in-law, Betty (Grady) Medlin.
Larry is survived by his wife of 64 loving years, Glenda Waddell Battles; children,Terri (Paul) Cromwell, Sheila Knight, Joseph Battles; grandchildren, Brooke (Jamen) Ellen, Brandon (Shannon) Cromwell, Jeffrey (Samantha) Knight, Justin (Lora) Knight, Allison (Matthew) Stokes; chosen grandchildren, Ethan Whitcomb, Cooper Whorton; great grandchildren, Everly Cromwell, Maisy and Riley Knight, Bo and Baylor Knight, Kynsley Stokes; and his loving dog Teacup.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephews.
