Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2012 in the chapel at Collier-Butler Funeral Home for Mrs. Irene Messer, 96, of Gadsden, who passed away Sunday, November 4, 2012. Rev. L. Dale Butler will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mrs. Messer was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was the second oldest of 11 children. She was an expert seamstress and avid sports fan.
She was preceded in death by her parents: B.K. and Dolly Herring; husband E.H. Messer and daughter, Berlene Burns
She is survived by her son, H.L. (Janice) Messer; daughter, Debra (Randy) Holcomb; grandchildren Todd (Tangela) Messer, Brian (Felicia) Messer, Brandon Nale, Brittany Holcomb, Ashley Holcomb; great-grandchildren, Hannah Messer and Sarah Messer; sisters, Eudean Estes, Adrian Knight and Sybil Barwick; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 7, 2012 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
