
Funeral services will be at 2pm on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Collier-Butler Funeral Home Chapel for Jack Donald Grant, Sr., 82, Gadsden, who died Sunday, November 27, 2011. Rev. Scott Hassell will officiate. Burial will be at Samuels Chapel Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.
Mr. Grant was a lifelong resident of Etowah County. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Grant and Estelle Entrekin Grant , his wife, Betty Tatum Grant and brother, Ezell Hodges.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law; Johnny and Vicki Grant, Connie and Glenell Grant, Jackie and Rita Grant and Robin and Melanie Grant, his son Joey Grant and daughter and son-in-law Susan and Todd Spiker and grandchildren Kristie, Julie, Kevin, Shane, Jamie, Chris and Josh Grant, April Lassiter, Jennifer Mayo, Ericka Papworth and Jacob, Zack and Noah Spiker and 15 great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Esther Hodges, Margaret Dimon and Shirley Tatum. Brother-in-law, Arthur Tatum, aunt, Gypsy Neal. He is also survived by a host of special cousins; the grandchildren of Mama and Papa Entrekin.
Mr. Grant served in the Army during the World War II era and belonged to the American Legion. He drove a truck for over forty years for various companies in the area including Deaton, and BR Williams and was also an owner-operator for many years.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 12 pm till 2 pm Tuesday at Collier-Butler Funeral Home.
