

A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Collier-Butler Funeral Chapel, for James Kermit Henry, age 79, of Southside, AL, who went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 20, 2022. Chris Smith, Greg Henry, and Pastor Matt will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Southside, AL. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
James was a man of faith and was a member of Southside Methodist Church. He was a family man who loved nothing more than being a husband, father, and grandfather. He was a graduate of Emma Samson High School. James served our country faithfully in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, where he retired after 38 years of service, and was also a hospice worker. Mr. Henry was also on the board of directors at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. He loved to watch Alabama Football and lived to hit up thrift stores and yard sales. James will be truly missed by all who knew him, especially by his family.
Mr. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Kermit Henry and Faye Colvin; half-sister, Vicki Colvin; and special furbaby, Lexie.
James is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Rita McCain Henry; children, Todd Henry, and Stephanie (Chris) Smith; grandchildren, Emily Smith, Katie Beth Smith, Jace Smith, and Cassidy Kay Henry; brother, Gary Henry; and half siblings, Phillip Henry, Roger Henry, Sarah Henry, Patsy Henry, Freddy Colvin, and Kathy Colvin.
The family accept friends on Friday, April 22, 2022, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the funeral home.
