

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mr. James R. “Bob” McPherson, age 72, originally from Gadsden, who passed away Sunday, June 19, 2011. Interment will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Rev. Tim Grimes officiating. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Service directing.
Mr. McPherson grew up on Forrest Avenue and attended Forrest Avenue Baptist Church and Bellevue Baptist Church before moving away. He proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps and retired from IBM as an Accountant. He was also employed with the Etowah County Board of Education in finance. Mr. McPherson enjoyed his family, friends, hunting, fishing and collectibles. After retirement he opened a collectibles store in Colorado Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman E. McPherson and Lollie C. McPherson.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sherrie Bradley McPherson; sons, Charles W. McPherson and John A. McPherson; grandchildren, Andrea J. McPherson, Daniel E. McPherson, Michael W. McPherson, Dylan C. McPherson, Paul R. McPherson, Chloe G. McPherson and Conner J. McPherson; sisters, Faye Sprayberry and Annette Ferguson; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Daniel McPherson, Michael McPherson, Dylan McPherson, June Sim, Terry Sprayberry, Rod Ferguson, Mark Ferguson and Charlie Simonton.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Columbus Hospice, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA 31909.
The family would like to express a special thanks to his friend Joe Williams and to his little brother Terry Sprayberry for their constant companionship through the years.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at Collier-Butler Funeral Home.
