

Janice Faye Lyles Mathis, age 75, of Gadsden, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 31, 2025. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Collier-Butler Funeral Home, with Rev. Billy Boatwright officiating. Burial will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends for visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
Janice was a proud graduate of Gaston High School and a lifelong resident of the Gadsden area. She had a deep love for her family, and nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A devoted wife, she cherished the memory of her late husband, Jimmy Mathis, with whom she shared a beautiful life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jimmy Mathis; her parents, J.C. and Lucille Lyles; her brother, James Lyles; and her grandson, Cody Nelson.
Janice leaves behind a loving family who will carry on her legacy: her son, Brian Green of Gadsden; daughters, Moni Green NeSmith (Scoupe) of Southside and Sonya Mathis McCurdy (Corey) of Southside; grandchildren, Sydnee Ford Snider, Kenzie McCurdy Weathington, Arden Green Cromer, Erin McCurdy, Jaxson McCurdy, Gauge NeSmith, Dylan Bellew, and Noah Bellew; and great-grandchildren, Scout Weathington, Ford Snider, and Annie Cromer. She is also survived by her sister, Gail Lyles Belotti of Southside, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who held a special place in her heart.
Pallbearers will be Jaxson McCurdy, Gauge NeSmith, Trace Cromer, Michael Snider, Jake Weathington, and Dylan Bellew.
Janice will be remembered for her warm heart, her unwavering love for her family, and her ability to make any gathering feel like home. Her presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
