
Jeffrey Lynn Bailey, born June 18, 1947, died on July 28, 2015, after an extended illness. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2015, at Crestwood Cemetery. Rev. Roger Graham will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mr. Bailey was an avid hunter and fisherman, who enjoyed time at his hunting club with his friends and Dad. He was a 1965 graduate of Etowah High School where he was an outstanding athlete, playing both football and baseball. He was a second baseman on the University of Alabama baseball team and was a player when Alabama won the SEC Conference Championship in 1968; he was named an SEC all-conference player. He was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company where he worked for 26 years as a supervisor. Lynn was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and was saved at an early age.
Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Billie Jean Sauls Bailey; aunts, Patsy Bailey Spradlin Smith, Peggy Bailey McDowell, Dorothy Sauls Clayton, and Rita Sauls Countryman; and cousin, Michael Green.
Mr. Bailey is survived by his aunts, Linda Bailey (Ray) Green, and Nancy Bailey Smith; cousins, Danny and Mary Ann Clayton, Jeppy Louie (Leeann) Clayton, Rick (Jane Anne) Countryman, Joni Countryman Smith, Patti (Jon) Featheringill, Lisa Spradlin, Johnny (Melanie) McDowell, Greg (Lisa) Green, and Melinda McDowell Calderini; and special cousins, Kim (Vince) Noblitt, Anna Claire, Lauren, and Clayton Noblitt, Brett (Chenequa) Clayton, Hannah, Ryleigh and Mary Collins Clayton.
The family is grateful for the excellent care provided by the nurses and staff of Gentiva Hospice and Riverview Wound Care Center. The family would especially like to thank Carolyn Yongue and Charlene Bowen. They both are truly angels among us. They provided the best of care and treated Lynn like a family member, and he loved them as much as they loved him. The family appreciates you so very much.

Pallbearers will be Danny Clayton, Rick Countryman, Jeppy Louie Clayton, Brett Clayton, Vince Noblitt, and Johnny McDowell.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Peter Lichty and the Noccalula Hunting Club.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bellevue Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
