Jerry was a devoted educator, earning her master’s degree from the University of Alabama and dedicating 25 years to teaching special education at Southside Elementary School. She had a deep love for her students and found great purpose in helping others learn and grow.
Beyond her career, Jerry enjoyed spending time reading, collecting antiques, and finding unique trinkets to display in her cherished curio cabinet. She also found joy in volunteering at the Southside Public Library, where she shared her love of books and community.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Jay Daniels; her parents, Olen Bud Jones and Mary Evelyn (Lymon) Junkins; and her niece, Wendy Clower.
Jerry is survived by her sister, Sybil Junkins Leavell; her nephew, Cary Chapman and his wife Cheryl and their son Andrew Chapman; her son, Jeff Daniels and his wife Amie, along with their children Katherine Christman and her husband Matthew and their children Matthew and Lexi, and Zach Ferris and his wife Abigail and their children Abraham, Shepard, and Noah; her son, Jon Daniels and his daughter Heather Harris and her husband Alec and their children Tessly, Grayson, and Harlow; her son, Jody Daniels and his wife Amanda and their children Jase, Kirsten Fata and her husband Jacob and their children Colton, Charlee, and Camdyn; Kaitlyn Evans and her husband Brandon and their children Reese, Reign, and Reid; Jade Rooks and her husband Kane and their children Grayson, Kaneslee, and Keaton; and Jakob Simmons and his wife Kaleigh and their children Knox and Knash; and Jesse Daniels, daughter of her late son Jay.
Jerry will be fondly remembered for the little traditions that made her house a home—especially her request that family members honk twice as they left her driveway, a simple gesture that always brought a smile and let her know they made it safely on their way. She especially cherished hearing her great-granddaughter Tessly sing, a simple joy that brought her great happiness. In a final, touching moment of love, Tessly sang to her in the hospital after her passing.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Enhabit Hospice staff, Riverview Hospital staff and physicians, Rebecca Lankford, Sha-Lee Regling, Michelle Kidd, Tommy Marshall and Glen from Tabernacle Church, and her dear friends Susan Clemmons and Edith and Clarence Mintz for their care, compassion, and support.
Jerry will be remembered for her kindness, dedication to her students, and the love she shared with her family and friends.
