
Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Collier-Butler Chapel for Jerry Donald Griffith, 73, Southside, who passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013. The Rev. Bill Harbison will officiate with burial at Anniston Memorial Gardens. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.
Mr. Griffith's early career years were spent in the banking industry and working hard to establish his business as owner of Jerry Griffith Trucking Company. He was a man who loved people, and for this reason, he was successful at other jobs, such as an appliance repair and salesperson. He made many friends over the years while working at Lowe's in the appliance department. After retirement, he enjoyed gathering with friends for morning coffee and conversation. His presence will be missed by many friends and family.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, James Almus and Catherine Griffith; sister, Joann Gidley; and brother, Jimmy Griffith.
He is survived by his sons, Thomas (Susan) Griffith and Timothy (Cynthia) Griffith; son's mother, Sandra Griffith; special friend, Melba Southard; sisters, Marie Riley and Cherie Crabtree; grandchildren, Beau, Cayce, Ashley and Walker; great-grandchild, Maddie; and a host of family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of service Tuesday at the funeral home
