

Funeral will be at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mr. Johnny Chandler, 92, who went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 11, 2015. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mr. Chandler, originally from Trion, Georgia, was a longtime resident of Gadsden where he owned and operated Chandler’s Fabric Shop for 37 years until his retirement in 1988. He was a WWII veteran and a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Everyone who came in contact with this southern gentleman felt blessed for having known him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon William Chandler, Sr., and Grace Buckalew Chandler; four brothers; and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Beatrice Brown Chandler; daughter, Patsy (Charles) Moore; sister, Winifred Chandler Scoggins; grandchildren, Alan (Becky) Moore, Joel (Bridgett) Moore, Patrick (Dana) Moore, Chandler (Ashley) Moore; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 13, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
