Joseph Bruce Igou

Joseph B. Igou, age 66, of Springville, Alabama passed peacefully at home on Monday, November 15, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, November 19, 2021, at Collier-Butler Chapel. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery in Gadsden, AL.

Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is in Charge of arrangements.

Joseph was born in Texas on September 5, 1955. Joe had a long career in the food/catering and grocery business. Joe Started in high school, helping his mother run Brucetta’s sweet shop. He then went on to work for Bruno’s Deli/Bakery as the director, and managed Morrison’s Cafeteria in the Gadsden mall.

Joe also worked for Gregerson’s as director of operations, catered the River Boat in Gadsden, bakery/deli supervisor, and bakery/deli seafood manager at Gregerson’s in Rainbow City. He continued his career for a period of time at G and W Foods in Missouri, and then came back to Marino’s in Birmingham, and back to running Cash Saver in Gadsden, AL as store manager.

Joe was a kind and fair supervisor and was loved by all who knew or worked for him.

He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph W. Igou; mother, Thelma Brucetta Monroe Igou; brother, Frank Bowen; daughter, Amy Igou; aunt, Jewell Bolding; and cousin, Ronnie Bolding.

Joe is survived by his spouse, Donna Harrison; his sons, Jason Christopher Igou and Justin Dante Igou; step daughter, Jamie Bryant; and grandchildren, Dakota Bryant, Noah Bryant, and Bentley Van Pelt.

Pallbearers will be sons, Jason Igou and Justin Igou; longtime friend, Robert Lee; grandsons, Noah Bryant and Dakota Bryant; brother-in-law, Dale Shew; Bart Haney and Andrew Plam.

Honorary pallbearers will be Peter Gregerson Sr., Peter Gregerson Jr., and Michall Danes.

The family will accept friends from 1:00PM until the hour of the service at the funeral home on Friday, November 19, 2021.
