

Funeral services be 12:30 pm Thursday, January 4, 2018 at St. James Catholic Church for Joy Delores Murray Driskill, age 87, of Hokes Bluff, who passed away Monday, January 1, 2018. Father Jose Chacko will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct.
Mrs. Driskill was born in Atlanta, GA and lived in Birmingham, AL as a child and young adult. After marrying she lived in Gadsden and Hokes Bluff. Mrs. Driskill was a faithful member of St. James Catholic Church for over 60 years. She was a loyal member and past President of the Women’s Sodality of St. James Catholic Church for many years. She also worked with the Catholic Center of Concern.
Mrs. Driskill was preceded in death by her husband, George Morris Driskill; infant son, Timothy Morris Driskill; granddaughter, Robin Michelle Parker; mother, Bessie Ogletree Murray; father, Colas Thomas Murray; brother, Thomas Murray; and sister, Connie Lewis.
She is survived by her daughters, Delores (Charles) Abney, Diane (Robert) Ryan, Donna (Steve) Quinn, Mary (Greg) Johnson, Carol (John) Bagwell, and Samantha (Josh) Giambalvo; sons, Joseph (Tammy) Driskill, and Mark (Laura) Driskill; grandchildren, Paige (Josh) Cox, Madeline (Ryan) Crandall, Jade Driskill, Dane Driskill, Karlie Johnson, Kody Johnson, Kelsey Johnson, Katie Johnson, Sydney Driskill, Mason Driskill, Grace Bagwell, Jake Bagwell, Case Bagwell, Greyson Giambalvo, Liam Giambalvo, Christian (Sean) McDonald, and Adam Smith; great-grandchildren, Dalton Rochester, Colby Cox, Maggie Smith, and Quinn Crandall; sisters, Betty (Alfred) Caterinichia and Shirley Layfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be sons, son-in-laws, and grandsons.
Special thanks to sitters, Kelsey Johnson, Katie Johnson, Lillian Finch, Michelle Golden, Sherry Cox, Nancy Newton, Rachel Green, Jeanne Shields, Libby Patterson, and Bobbie Agnew; and to special friend, Ida Rader, who visited our mother religiously every week. Special thanks also, to Kindred Hospice staff, Tiffany, Joy, April, Denise, Kim and Tina; and to the Legion of Mary Volunteers with St. James Catholic Church.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m.-12:-00 pm at Collier-Butler Funeral Home Thursday, prior to the service.
