Judy Kay Young

Funeral service for Judy Kay Sewell Young, 80, of Hokes Bluff, AL will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Collier-Butler Funeral Home. Judy passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024, after conquering a nine-year battle with cancer. Pastor Paul Elliott of Croft Ferry Baptist Church will officiate the ceremony. The final resting place will be at Young's Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery.

Judy was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Sewell, and her mother, Christine Lankford Sewell.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, John Henry Young; sons, Scott Young (Karon) and Jeff Young (Marsha); grandchildren, Cody, Justin, Sean, Aspen, Savannah, Leland, and Faith Young; great-grandson, Bryce Young; and brother, Larry Sewell (Sue). She is also survived by a host of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Judy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her grandchildren and great-grandchild were the greatest joys of her life. Judy was a graduate of Hokes Bluff High School and longtime employee of Thornton Lake Cloth Barn. She loved to cook and was well-known for her chocolate cake and fried pies. She was a faithful and devoted member of Croft Ferry Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Special thanks to the ACG Hospice nurses and staff. In lieu of flowers, donations on Judy's behalf can be made to Croft Ferry Baptist Church in Ball Play.

The family will accept friends from 12:00 pm until the hour of the service at the funeral home on Thursday.
