

Funeral services for Karen Michelle Myrick, age 40, of Glencoe, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 8, 2016, at CrossPoint Community Church. Rev. Scott Harris will officiate with burial to follow at Greenview Memorial Cemetery in Florence. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.
Michelle passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016.
She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and was a 2012 graduate of Jacksonville State University. Michelle loved to teach and loved children. She was a middle school educator at Coosa Christian School for 9 years, where she served as the varsity cheerleader sponsor. Michelle loved her church, her family, and watching college football. She enjoyed volunteering anytime that she could at her church. Most of all, Michelle enjoyed being a part of her children’s activities and events and spending time with her family. She fought a long battle with cancer for 5 years. One of her favorite verses was Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Michelle was preceded in death by her grandparents, Clyde and A.Z. Lovelace, Floyd Haddock and Gertrude Haddock.
She is survived by her husband, Brian Myrick; children Hailey and Reece; parents, Charles and Shirley Haddock; brother, Michael Haddock (Lori); sister-in-law, Suzanne Collier (Keith); nieces, Lindsey, Caroline, Kaitlin, and Freya Grace; and mother and father-in-law Judy and Cecil Myrick.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Coosa Christian varsity and junior high boys basketball teams.
Special thank you to Dr. Jason Ayers and staff, Dr. Burt Nabors and staff at UAB Neuro-Oncologist, Southside Baptist Church and Coosa Christian families.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the UAB Brain Cancer Research.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday at CrossPoint Community Church.
