

Katie Belle Angle Battles, age 87 of Rainbow City, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014 with her family by her side. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Monday, August 25, 2014 at Collier- Butler Chapel with Reverend Glen Studdard officiating followed by the burial at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. The visitation will be held Sunday from 6-8:00 PM. Collier- Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.
Mrs. Battles was a lifelong resident of Etowah County, and she was an avid quilter and homemaker for most of her life.
Mrs. Battles was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Edward “Buddy” Battles; their son, James Paul Battles; her parents, George “Red” Angle and Bytha Walker; two grandsons, Zale and Dondy Chambers; son-in-law, Ron Chambers; sister, Mollie Fincher; brother, Albert “Bud” Angle; and special aunt, Mandy Overby.
Survivors include her daughters, Ann (James) Hayes of Cocoa, FL, Lilla Chambers of Gadsden, Marie (James) Smith of Rainbow City, Mandy (Jeff) Romine formerly of Boaz/ Birmingham, Rena (Bobby) Brand of Ballplay, Emmily Battles (Chris) Barnard of Southside. She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Romine, Mark Bell, Chris Barnard, Ricky Boyle, Johnny Fincher, Michael Amos, James Taylor, and William Smith.
