Leonard Douglas "Doug" Blackwell

Funeral services will be at 2 pm today, September 16, 2012, at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mr. Leonard Douglas “Doug” Blackwell, age 70 of Gadsden who passed from this life Friday, September 14, 2012. He will be greatly missed by his family. Revs. Kenneth Lasseter and Harold Daugherty will officiate. Burial will be at Black Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.

Mr. Blackwell was employed by Bowman Transportation for 27 years. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Blackwell Anders; parents, John B. and Willie Mae Blackwell and brother, James “Jimmy” Blackwell.

Mr. Blackwell is survived by his wife, Annette Blackwell; sons, Lenny (Melissa) Blackwell and Brent (Brandi) Blackwell; grandchildren, Drew Blackwell, Bevin (Logan) Payne, Lee Smith, Bradley Anders, Megan Anders and Caden Blackwell; great grandchildren, Kace and Samuel Smith; brothers, Bobby Blackwell and Tom (Andrea) Chorron; sisters, Janice Deerman, Glenda Blackwell, Lenda Blackwell and Barbara (Alton) Smith; father-in-law, George Lee; and a host of other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Drew Blackwell, Bradley Anders, Ron Campbell, Tony Deerman, Tim Blackwell, and Tim Chorron.

The family would like to extend special thanks to his sister, Janice Deerman for her love, support and kindness and to nurse Cassie and staff of Alacare Home Health and Hospice.
