

Remembered as a woman with a positive outlook on life to go with her deep Christian faith, Marian (Mrs. James D.) Lancaster, 93, of Gadsden, passed away Aug. 13, 2016, at her home after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be at Collier Butler Funeral Home in Gadsden at 2 p.m. today with burial following in Forrest Cemetery. Pastor Randy Gunter of MeadowBrook Baptist Church will officiate. The family will receive visitors beginning at 12:30 p.m. prior to the service.
Survivors include son James (Jimmy) and daughter-in-law Amy of Branson, Mo.; son Charles and daughter-in-law Robbie of Gadsden; one sister, Carolyn Waldron of Gadsden; two grandsons, John (Margaret) Lancaster of Gadsden and Ben (Lindsay) Lancaster of Birmingham; one granddaughter, Blythe Lancaster of Branson; and three great-grandchildren, Charlie, Helen and Grace Lancaster of Gadsden.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James D. Lancaster; by two sisters, Jackie Waldron and Kathleen Beall of Macon, Ga.; and by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Millard F. Waldron of Macon.
Mrs. Lancaster was born Marian Louise Waldron in Macon. She met her husband while he was stationed at nearby Warner Robins Army Air Corps base. After marrying, they moved to Gadsden in 1947 where Mrs. Lancaster was a homemaker while her husband practiced law and also invested in community newspapers and real estate.
The Lancasters were among the charter members of MeadowBrook Baptist Church. Prior to that, they were members of First Baptist Church in Gadsden.
Mrs. Lancaster was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a good friend to many and will be missed forever by those who knew and loved her.
When not spending time with her family, Mrs. Lancaster liked to travel and do needlepoint.
