Mary Nell Harkins

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mary Nell Harkins, age 88 of Gadsden, who passed away Monday, May 11, 2015. Rev. Sherri Reynolds will officiate. Burial will be at Forrest Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation services is directing.

She was preceded in death by her son, “Danny”, husband, Clarence, sister, Margie Berry Lucchessi, and brothers, Henry “Moe” Berry, Melvin ‘Mutt” Berry and Grady Berry.

She is survived by her niece, Gayle Berry Darche of Lady Lake, Florida, and nephews, Marc Lucchessi of Highland Village, Texas and Gerald Berry of Naples, Florida.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Bennie Dowdy for the love, friendship and devotion that she has given through the years to her cousin, Mary Nell. Special thanks also to Amedysis Hospice and caregivers, Joan Cranford, Janice Humphrey, Jennifer Sweeney and Beth Chapman, who rendered loving and special care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Snellgrove Civitan Center (Danny’s school), 324 N. 9th Street, Gadsden, Alabama 35903.

The family will accept friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
