

Melanie Marie (Pettry) Torres, 34, of Gadsden laid down to rest and woke up in Heaven on October 14, 2013. Melanie was born August 17, 1979 to Lane and Ramona Pettry in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Melanie grew up in Waukegan, Illinois, moving to Kenosha, Wisconsin at the age of 13. Melanie loved visiting Alabama and relocated to Gadsden in 2005.
Melanie was a talented hair stylist and jewelry designer. She enjoyed cooking, camping, music, and especially her cats.
Melanie was the proud mother of Adam Torres- Pettry, Ezra Torres-Pettry, Amir Farhan, and Amarrah Lee. Among others who will miss her love, beauty, talent and wacky sense of humor are her parents, Lane and Ramona Pettry of Glencoe, grandparents Ray and Karen Cruz of Glencoe, with whom she was very close, sisters Valerie (Adam) Spinks of Gadsden, Stephanie (Christopher) Waddell of Piedmont, Miranda (Craig) Tyler of Southside, brother Jamison (Miranda) Cruz of Hartselle, AL, nieces Monica Wilson and Anna Cruz, and nephews Benjamin Cruz and Draven Spinks, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
Visitation and funeral services will be at Collier-Butler Funeral Home, 814 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, AL on Friday, October 18, 2013. Visitation is from 1-3 pm, with funeral services to follow. Burial will be at Williams-Southside Memorial Park, 1009 Highway 77, Southside, AL.
