Mildred Williamson Cornutt went to be with the Lord on September 6, 2016 at the age of 85. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2016 at Collier-Butler Chapel. Richard L. Martin will begin the service with prayer and her eulogy will be given by friends and family.
Mildred Cornutt was born on February 7, 1931. She was a native and lifelong resident of Gadsden, AL. Mildred was a graduate of Emma Samson High School. After working at Dwight Cotton Mill, she worked as the secretary of Dwight Elementary School, then transferred to Gadsden High School to work in the library. Mildred was a longtime member of Alabama City Church of God. For the past several years, she attended Alabama City United Methodist Church. Mildred loved to sing, especially hymns, and even more so if she could get her twin sister to sing with her. She was always a wonderful cook and was famous for her fried chicken, green beans, and pickles. Mildred could be going through the worst times and still hold it together and get things done with a smile. We will carry her advice and life lessons in our hearts forever! We are broken, but she is rejoicing.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Cornutt, Jr.; parents, Lonnie Bert and Rosa Balckburn Williamson; son, Mark Cornutt and wife Deb; brothers, Hermon and Robert Williamson and their wives, Nellie and Carolyn; sisters, infant, Mary Williamson, her twin Margaret and Margaret’s husband, Don Miller; and sister-in-law, Darlene Williamson.
Mildred is survived by her daughter, Sylvia (John) Coleman; sons, Jim (Cheryl) Cornutt, and Frank Cornutt; brother, Thermon Williamson; grandchildren, Sandy (Chet) Janik, Randy (Dana) Daughdriill, Jeremy Coleman, Shane (Laura) Cornutt, Kathy (David) Hayes, Brandon (Kasey) Cornutt, Melody (Chris) Oakley, and Benjamin Cornutt; 12 great-grandchildren; and special brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends too numerous to count.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Special thanks to Camellia Hospice. Love and thanks to Janice Quinn and niece, Peggy Preston for their wonderful care.
