

Mildred Augusta Daughdrill Stephens, age 88, of El Paso, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 07, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. Rev. L. Dale Butler will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive First United Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery, Piedmont, Alabama.
Mildred attended Etowah High School, and later received her GED. Mildred met her beloved husband John Stephens during high school, and they married after a short engagement. Mildred and John had four children, Donna Gail Stephens Holm, Laura Denise Stephens Taylor Vernon, John (Johnny) Samuel Stephens Jr., and Charles (Chuck) Edward Stephens. During their marriage, Mildred and John lived in Chicago, Illinois for a couple of years, and the remainder of their marriage they lived in Gadsden Alabama, where they raised their family. Mildred enjoyed taking care of the family farm in Owls Hollow, where she raised chickens, family pets, and enjoyed the outdoors. Mildred loved to attend Church regularly at Noccalula Church of God, and other Churches within the Gadsden area. Mildred had been a long-time member of the Noccalula Church of God. Also, Mildred loved her family dearly, and enjoyed traveling frequently to visit her children, grandsons, and grandchildren. Hobbies included reading the Bible, Homemaker, Gardening, Reading books, and Traveling.

Daughdrill (father), Arby Goughf Daughdrill (mother), Roscoe Stephens (father-in-law), Erma Stephens (mother-in-law), John Samuel Stephens Sr. (husband), Laura Joyce Oaks (sister), Leon Daughdrill (brother), Laura Denise Vernon Taylor (daughter), and John Samuel Stephens Jr. (son).
Survived by: Daughter Donna Gail Stephens Holm (Stephen), Charles Stephens (son), Grandsons: Chris Stephens, Kennedy Collins (Heather), Coleman Collins (Sedona), James Vernon, Joseph Vernon (Jamie Lynn), and Luke Taylor, Great Grandchildren: Mathew Cook (Jackie) , Josh Cook, Noah Vernon, Ana Bella Vernon, Cecilia Rose Vernon, Alexander Taylor, Dallas Taylor, Greyson Collins, and Lincoln Collins. Great-Great Grandchildren: Lily Cook.
Pallbearers will be Grandsons: Chris Stephens. Kennedy Collins, Coleman Collins, James Vernon, Joseph Vernon, and Luke Taylor.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, February 07, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
