

Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle Fay Sims James, age 93 of Gadsden, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Collier-Butler Chapel. Bro. Lauil Thompson will officiate with burial to follow at Young’s Chapel Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.
Mrs. James passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016.
Myrtle was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of College Heights Baptist Church. She was known for her cooking; especially her biscuits and chicken and dumplins. She loved quilting. She made quilts for all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved gardening. She could put the smallest of cutting in soil and have beautiful flowers.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank; daughter, Betty Sue; son, Martin Earl; father, C.T. Sims; mother, Willie Mae Sims; three sisters and two brothers.
Myrtle is survived by her children, J.F. James (Wanda), Sue Elliott (Carl), Wyolene Moman, Willie Frank James (Rita), and Jesse Dean James; twelve grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one sister.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Mark Moman, Jeff Moman, Matthew James, Justin James, Jeremy Hutchins and Tyler James.
Special thanks are extended to Dr. Webb Sledge and Staff, and Alacare Hospice nurses Casey and Lindsey.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Sunday prior to the services at the funeral home.
