

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Collier-Butler Funeral Home. The family will accept friends from 12 PM until the hour of service at the funeral home on Thursday. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Cosby was born on August 22, 1941. She was preceded in death by her parents John Hayes and Lucille Gartman Cunningham. Nancy is survived by her husband of 56 years, Bobby Cosby; son, Dr. Alan Cosby (Jeannie); Grandsons, Johnson and Hayes Cosby. Sister, Ann Stone. Brothers and Sister-in-Laws, Dink (Charlotte) Cosby and Dan (Patsy) Cosby.
Mrs. Cosby was a retired teacher from The Etowah County Board of Education. She taught at Alma Hinson Junior High School, Glencoe High School and retired from Glencoe Middle School in 1994. After her retirement she taught Adult Education Classes for many years. She was a 1959 graduate of Etowah High School and later attended Snead Junior College. Mrs. Cosby was a graduate of Jacksonville State College and later earned a Masters Degree in Biology from UAB. She always enjoyed assisting her students as they competed in science fairs. Mrs. Cosby was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, Eta Chapter and also active in the 4-H Club. She was a poll worker for many elections in Rainbow City and also served many years on the Rainbow City Library Board. Mrs. Cosby was a devoted Christian and a member of White Springs Baptist Church where she enjoyed helping with Encouragers.
Mark Cosby, Larry Fuhrman, and Lauil Thompson will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Hayes Cosby, Dan Cosby, Dink Cosby, Dale Adams, Carl Cooper, Ricky Deweese, Chris Maxwell and Bill Stone. Honorary Pallbearers will be Johnson Cosby, Nick Greenhaw, Ed Johnson, Art Middleton, Boyd Smart and Randy Vice.
Special thanks to her wonderful caregivers Anne Stevens, Drue Robertson, Rita Judson, and Mary Baronowski. Also to Dr. Etagbo Eta, Dr. Alberto Echeverri, Dr. Sabrina Morgan-Graves, and the staff of Amedisys Hospice who showed excellent care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged in her memory to White Springs Baptist Church or your favorite charity.
