Funeral services will be at 12:30pm on Saturday, March 31st, 2018 at Collier Butler Funeral Home for Nancy Jane Weaver Small, age 72, who died on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. Tommy Marshall will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Small died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Hokes Bluff, Alabama. She was born in War, West Virginia and grew up in Talladega, Alabama. She has lived in Hokes Bluff since 1971. Mrs. Small was a quiet, spiritual, generous person who loved her family very much. She graduated nursing school at the Holy Name of Jesus Hospital in Gadsden and
later received her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Alabama. She worked as a registered nurse and in the medical field for many years. She had been active in several faith-based and civic community organizations, including Rose Haven Center for Battered Women, Etowah County Community Council, and the Catholic Center of Concern. Most recently, she served as an auxiliary member for the Gadsden Gideon
Ministry. She attended The Tabernacle in Gadsden.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Pauline Weaver, and her siblings, Martin Weaver, Jr. and Cheryl Woodard.
She is survived by her husband, Henry F. Small and children. She felt her greatest achievement in life were the births of her two daughters, Melissa Shields (Scott) of
Hokes Bluff, Alabama and Amy Ellison (Michael) of Alabaster, Alabama. Mrs. Small had four grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Kaitlyn and Ashlyn Shields and Evan
and Sarah Ellison. She will be greatly missed.
