

Robert Louis (Bob) Stevens was born in Ohio, November 10, 1934. He attended Ohio State University, served in the U.S. Army and National Guard and began a career in the steel industry with Republic Steel Company. He transferred to the Gadsden Steel plant and retired from there in 1986. He began a second career with the Etowah County Board of Education as a school bus driver for the special needs students until his second retirement in 1997. He continued to fill in as a substitute bus driver until 2012. His love for the students he worked with was on superseded by his love for God and his family. He was active with the Elks Lodge, the Gadsden Shrine Club, the Zamora Shrine Temple, and the Cedar Bend Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Masonic Order of Freemasonry/York Rite Masonry for over 50 years. He was a 33rd Degree Mason. He was a member of Christ Central Church, a member of the Gadsden Country Club, Gadsden Regional Senior Circle, RBC Seniors, Fiesta Dance Club and the El Senor’ Club.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Alice and Sylvester Stevens; wife, Mary Ann Stevens; step-son and daughter in law, Fred and MaryAnne Holcomb and great grandson, Jonah Forsman.
He is loved and survived by his family, wife, Millie Holcomb Stevens; daughters: Kimberly, Kelly, Laura (Chris), Dianna and Debra, (Wayne); sons: Todd (Sara), Frank (Cathy), and Mike (Greg); Granddaughters: Kaitlin (Aaron), Karlie (Todd), Chelsea (Josh), Morgan, Amy (Aaron), Amanda (Brad), Jordan (Chance), Monica (James), Nicole (Zac), Josee. Grandsons: Christopher, Nick (Robyn), Parker, Liam, Frank (Kelly), and K.C. (Sharon), and 17 great grandchildren.
Bob loved to travel and enjoyed the fellowship of other travelers. He enjoyed going on cruises and was able to cruise with all of his children on some of the cruises. He also enjoyed bus trips with the Gadsden Seniors’ group led by Belinda and Danny Brock.
