
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Forrest Cemetery for Ruth Wallace Moon, age 93, of Gadsden, who passed away Monday, December 21, 2015. Rev. Royce Head will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mrs. Moon was born and raised in Dwight Mill Village and graduated from Emma Sansom High School and later Erlanger Nursing School in 1942. She enlisted in the United States Navy in 1945 and served through 1946. After the war she continued working in private practice as a nurse for over 50 years with Dr. E. A. Isbell, Sr., Dr. E. A. Isbell, Jr. and Dr. Boyce White. In addition, she frequently volunteered for the Holy Name of Jesus Hospital and the Baptist Hospital.
Mrs. Moon was preceded in death by her husband, Troy L. Moon; sisters, Sarah Wallace Elwine, Billie Wallace Warsham and Tommie Wallace Osborn; half-sister, Inez Wallace; and half-brother, Buck Wallace.
She is survived by her sister, Doris Wallace Turner; sons, Michael Oliver (Jana) Moon and Patrick Troy (Pamela) Moon; grandsons, Michael Patrick Moon, William Oliver Moon, and Jacob Charles Moon; great-granddaughter, Carolyn Dawn Moon; great-grandson, Troy David Moon; and numerous nieces, nephews and family.
Pallbearers will be Michael Patrick Moon, William Oliver Moon, Jacob Charles Moon, Clark Hopper, Josh Brooks, and Lonnie C. Green.
Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Brooks, Jeremy Brooks, Travis Butler, Jeff Hopper, Lee McClendon and Dennis Scott.
Special thanks to the residents of Holy Comforter and the physicians, nurses and staff of Huntsville Hospital.
There will be no visitation.
