

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. today at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mrs. Shirley Annette Campbell Lett, age 78, of Gadsden who passed away Sunday, August 24, 2014. Rev. David Cofield, Rev. David Hairston and Dr. Greg Corbin will officiate with burial at Beulah Cemetery, Marshall County. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct.
Mrs. Lett graduated from Sardis High School Class of 1953, where she was pianist for the FFA quartet, and studied at Tennessee Temple in Chattanooga, TN. She had worked with GMAC, Jackson County DHR and was a private piano teacher. She was a constant companion alongside her husband in his pastoral ministry serving as church pianist-organist over their 51 year marriage. As a teenager and young woman she was in demand as pianist for singing schools and other events in the area. She served as pianist for the Nunn and Gargus Trio, John Hull and Joymakers. During her husband’s years as Director of Missions in the Sand Mountain Baptist Association, she led a ministry to the pastor’s wives in that association. She was preceded in death by her mother, Flora Lee Coe Campbell, father, Robert Campbell, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A.C Coe, Sr., aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Coe, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Lett, son, Tim Lett, daughter-in-law, Daphne Lett, grandchildren, Jacob, Anna Claire, Micah John, Abbi Kate, cousins, Jeff and Tracy Coe, and special friend, June Phillips Horton who arranged the first date for Shirley and Bill.
Pallbearers will be Rev. Jimmy Carson, Dr. Chuck Conley, Rev. Allan Crawford, Rev. Chris Guinn, Rev. George Hughes and Dr. Charles Smith.
Honorary Pallbearers will be deacons of Kelly’s Chapel Baptist Church.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and staff of Lawley Premier Hospice, Martha Knight, Brenda Mashburn, Polly Bowers, Gail Rucks, Sue Cooper and Debbie Thornhill for your special care during this difficult time.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the hour of service today at the funeral home.
