Stanley Keith Croley

Stanley was a proud graduate of Emma Sansom High School, Class of 1974. He began his working career at Republic Steel, where he worked in the Blast Furnace and Electrical Department. After the steel mill closed, Stanley continued his career as a “bare-handed” lineman. His work took him across the United States, traveling extensively to assist with storm repair efforts following hurricanes and ice storms. He was a dedicated member of IBEW Local 443 and took great pride in his work.

Stanley loved motorcycles, racing, and Alabama football. Above all, he loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church.

Stanley was preceded in death by his daughter, Leigh, and his parents, Ken and Sue Croly.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy Croley; his son, Adam Croley; his beloved granddaughters, Molly, Emma, and Lexi; and his new daughter-in-law, Amy. He is also survived by his sister, Jan (Mike) Patterson; a wonderful group of nieces and nephews; and special friends Gregory Herrera, Pete, Donna Nail, and Skeeter.

A visitation will be held on January 3, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Collier-Butler Funeral Home, located at 824 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, Alabama 35901, followed by a funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Stanley will be laid to rest at Williams Southside Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Terry Clayton, Barry Hathcox, Tommy Sewell, Jimmy Sewell, Bain Stevens, Andrew Richardson, Donald Sewell, and Steve Trawick.

Honorary Pallbearers will be his Thursday night Harley group: Gary Copeland, Charlie Baswell, Charlie Kirkland, Larry Gilchrist, Steve Gilchrist, and Mike Patterson.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church – Operation Christmas Child.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to all of their sweet friends for the love, prayers, and support shown during this time.

Stanley will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generous heart, love of the open road, and deep devotion to his family, friends, and faith.
