Born in Gadsden, Alabama, Tyran loved her North Gadsden community and grew up attending James Memorial Baptist Church. She was a proud graduate of Gadsden High School, where she was a member of the marching band. Twirling the baton as a Gadsden High Tigerette was one of her many rewarding experiences.
Tyran later spent 14 years in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania with her husband and family before eagerly returning to the South to settle in the Metro Atlanta area where she raised her family and was a member of Mount Paran Church of God. Mrs. Boler loved listening to and singing country music, with George Strait being her favorite. She also enjoyed traveling to Nashville, where she interviewed and wrote newspaper articles on many country music artists.
Tyran, a retired high school and college health educator, taught for 29 years spending the majority of her career at her beloved Oakwood High School in Cobb County. She was instrumental in her students’ lives, always “planting seeds” in young people and helping them grow into adults who give back and help others. She did this in many ways, including coordinating and leading blood drives in partnership with the American Red Cross. Mrs. Boler received numerous awards throughout her career, including Cobb County School District’s Health Education Teacher of the Year, American Red Cross School Sponsor of the Year, and Hometown Hero, recognizing her leadership in blood drive efforts across Metro Atlanta.
Tyran was a devoted wife to her late Coach Honey, Clark Boler, and loved cheering on the teams he coached and played for, including the Alabama Crimson Tide. She was a loving mother and proud Nana who always lent a listening ear. Known for her big, vibrant personality, Tyran was quick-witted, a little sassy, and never one to hide how she felt. She had a warm, friendly spirit that drew people in and a circle of friends who loved her dearly.
Survivors include her two children, Rodrick Clark Boler II of Acworth, GA, and Leslie Boler Jones and husband Chad of Cumming, GA; seven grandchildren, Brendan Boler (Sarah), Ryan Boler, Amber Jones, McKenna Boler, Ali Jones, Sean Boler, and Trent Jones; one great-grandson, Elliott Boler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Tyran's caregivers, Michelle Rivera, Melissa Sutton, and Robin Noaker, as well as Cooper, the adorable neighbor Shih Tzu who visited her often.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her mother’s educational scholarship, The Baptist Foundation of Alabama, P.O. Box 241227, Montgomery, Alabama 36124, c/o Daisy Forman Memorial Scholarship #1803.
