Mrs. Valencia Bohannon Carr

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Collier-Butler Funeral Home for Mrs. Valencia Bohannon Carr, age 73, Gadsden, who passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010. The Rev. Joey Jones, Rev. Johnny Pruitt and Rev. John Screws will officiate with burial at Williams-Southside Memorial Park. Collier-Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Services directing.

Valencia was known throughout her community for her love of children and her personal strength. She had a love-filled marriage of 55 years and was the foundation that has made her family strong and prosperous. Mrs. Carr was a longtime member of Whorton Bend Baptist Church where she cherished teaching of The Lord Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Irene (Brock) Bohannon; daughter, Angela Carr; and brother, Edwin Bohannon.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Bruce Carr; sons, Bryan (Shirley) Carr and Michael (Lisa) Carr; grandchildren, Amy (Jess) Allsup, Amber (Gabriel) Berry-Moore, Tyler Carr, Noah and Reagan Carr; great grandchildren, Nicoli Clark, Bailey Rogers, Brodey Carr and Braden Carr; brothers, Mitch Bohannon and Leland Bohannon; sisters, Carmen Blevins, Julia Brown and Maxine Baty; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Ashley, Ted Cook, Ronald Brown, Bill Jones, Tom Morgan and Scott Mayo.

Honorary pallbearers will be all of the people who’s lives she touched through her friendships and 25 years of dedicated teaching at Southside Elementary.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Whorton Bend Baptist Church at 2820 Whorton Bend Road, Gadsden, AL 35901.

A visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Collier-Butler Funeral Home.
