

Walter Alexander “Alex” Roe, age 69, passed away peacefully at his home on February 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He has finally found rest, leaving behind a legacy as sturdy as the structures he framed and as deep as the soil he tilled.
Alex was a hardworking man who dedicated his life to providing for his family. Whether he was building with his hands or tending the land, he took pride in honest work and a life well lived. His strength, resilience, and quiet devotion to those he loved will never be forgotten.
He is now reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife, Sharon Roe; his parents, Opal and Walter Roe; his brothers, Donnie Roe and Larry Roe; and his sisters, Charlotte Coley and Scarlet Roe.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children: Amanda Thacker (George) of Gadsden; Silas Roe (Brandy) of Summerville, Georgia; Katrina Forrester of Gadsden; Marlene Lovell (Dave) of Gadsden; and Tammie Yost (Jon) of Dahlonega, Georgia; and his brother, Alton Roe (Sherry) of Gadsden.
He was a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren and a blessed great-grandfather to 9 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Hunter, Jason Morris, Trey Forrester, Gabriel Roe, Brady Roe, and Gunner Roe.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to SouthernCare New Beacon Hospice for their compassion and care during his final days.
Visitation will be held at Collier-Butler Funeral Home, 824 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, Alabama, on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest at Lebanon Cemetery.
Alex will be remembered for his steady hands, his strong heart, and the deep love he had for his family. His presence will be greatly missed, but his legacy will live on in all who knew and loved him.
