Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Collier-Butler Chapel for W.A. "Mac" McDaniel, aka "Sonny" to the family, 82, of Gadsden, who passed away April 25, 2015. Rev. John Dickinson will officiate. Interment will be at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Dessie (Jones) McDaniel. He was born Feb. 6, 1933, in Sylacauga, Ala., where he met the love of his life, the late Joyce Patricia Wolfe. They were married for 57 years, where they lived together in Gadsden, Ala., raising four children.Mac retired from the Anniston Pump Shop in 1995 as a public relations manager and loved to travel with his wife and enjoy her career as an artist. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, church family and watching Alabama football. He was a veteran of armed services (Army) and served in Germany 1953-55. He was a member of the Tabernacle Church but enjoyed attending services and activities with the East Gadsden Baptist Church in recent years.Mac is survived by three sons, Mark McDaniel, Gadsden, Scott (Pam) McDaniel, Gadsden, and Eric McDaniel, Glasgow, Ky.; one daughter, Holly (Wade) Fadely, Gadsden; five grandchildren, Miranda McDaniel, Jacob McDaniel, Alex Blaine, Chelsea Ledbetter, Gage Fadely; and six great-grandchildren, Kristlyn McDaniel, Riley White, Bryce and Madison Blaine, Jackson Ledbetter, and Rosalyn McDaniel.Pallbearers are Wade Fadely, Gage Fadely, Shane Ledbetter, Jacob McDaniel, Ian Lee and Jeremy Cothran.The family would like to give special thanks to Roderick, Amber and nurses of Gentiva Hospice, Alacare Home Health, and especially to Pam McDaniel, his daughter-in-law and primary caregiver for the past year.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.Online condolences may be made to the family at www.collier-butler.com. - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/gadsdentimes/obituary.aspx?n=wa-mcdaniel-mac&pid=174725899&fhid=5603#sthash.L60yetKG.dpuf
