Balan Raman Nair

Balan Raman Nair passed away on June 5, 2022. He was preceded in death by his elder brother Vijay Nair in 1977. He is survived by his wife Sreedevi, his son Ajay (Rebecca), daughter Shalina, grandchildren Ashton, Alivia and Lucas, and younger sisters Shanta Nair and Sheila Bewoor. Born in Tirur, India, he grew up in Jamshedpur and left India at the age of 18 for the University of Stuttgart in Germany where he graduated with a diploma in Mechanical Engineering. He moved to Canada and then the United States where he spent the remainder of his life working as a project manager building power plants. He loved travelling and was an avid reader, but his favorite pastime was swimming and this gave him great joy in life. Although he was extremely successful in his career, his family is what was most important to him. He was a devoted husband and was proudest of his two children, both successful physicians, and he would talk about their accomplishments at every opportunity he had. He adored his three grandchildren and always had a sweet smile on his face in their presence. He was a gentle soul and a true gentleman whose mission in life was to provide for his family and give them a better life than he had. We were blessed to have him in our lives and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
