She was predeceased by her parents, husbands John (Jay) S. Honchell and infant son, Randy Jay, and Walter L. Goodrich and step-daughter Carol L. Goodrich.
Barbara was formerly of Gahanna and was last employed by Columbus Public Schools. She was a Red Cross Volunteer, member of the Columbus Chapter 235 NARFE, member of the Gahanna Senior Center and Blendon Township Senior Center. She was also a member of Stonybrook United Methodist Church. She was a two time cancer survivor (and an organ donor if needed!).
She graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1947 and moved to Columbus three days later.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda M. Thomas (Leigh) of Gahanna and Susan D. Roberts (Paul) of Powell, step-daughter Jane E. Tinsley (Charles) of Lake City, Michigan, grandchildren, Rachel L. Garling (Brandon), Zachary Thomas (Kelsi), Christopher Bates (Amanda), Joe Roberts (Skylar), Josh Roberts (Ashley), Amy Tinsley, Brenda Perry (Wade), and Cassie Tinsley, great-grandchildren, Gwenyth Perry, Dashiell Bates, Remington Bates, Delaney Garling, Everleigh Garling, Phoenix Shaffer, Abe Roberts, Teagan Roberts and Morgan Thomas.
She aged with an attitude and lived and loved her life, loved her family, loved to travel and helped many people. She was an honest and direct lady and you always knew where you stood with her. She often said her life was one big gamble.
Cremation was her choice and a “Party” to celebrate her life will follow, in lieu of any funeral service. She loved life and would want those she touched to celebrate her life rather than mourn her death.
Arrangements have been entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society or Stonybrook United Methodist Church.
