E. Ron Gary, 67, of Columbus, Ohio passed away August 22, 2022. He was born February 18, 1955 and was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Agnes (Bradford) Gary, when he was a teenager, as well as his father, E. Jack Gary and step-mother Isabelle Gary.
Ron was a United States Air Force Veteran and proudly, although humbly, served as an Air Force representative with the United Nations peacekeeping efforts. He retired from a career in civil service from DSCC where his engineering skills led to the development of “the Gary bolt” an innovative invention which made many critical parts interchangeable. He was always willing to teach and work with new employees.
Ron was a long-time member of the Valley of Dayton Jurisdiction of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry where he was a 33rd degree Mason and Shriner. He supported the burn victims at the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
A man of great diversity, he enjoyed trivia and word games, painting, playing guitar, and hanging out at Red Rock for “Rock ‘n Roll Mondays”.
He leaves behind his only child, Jennifer Bolin and her boyfriend Charles Spitzer; beloved grandchildren: Rhonda Gonzalez, Jeremey Bolin, Charles Bolin, and twins, Promise Bolin and Porsha Bolin; 7 great-grandchildren: Christopher, Layla, Lillyanna, Isaiah, Jacob, Darby and Harley; brother Tom (Shari) Gary; sisters, Gale (Phil) Hooper, Sharon (Wayne-deceased) Carter, Mary Linscott, Judy (Greg) Lafferty, Tammy Blackburn; step-sister Bev (Mark) Engle and step-brother, Bill Doss; also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his loyal dog, Sally.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Schoedinger Northeast, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, OH 43230 with gathering one hour prior. Pastor Russell Howard will officiate.
